Burien Car Show as seen with a Lensbaby

Every photographer I know has a bag full of ‘toys.’ So I dug mine out and came up with my Lensbaby – a funky little lens that is challenging to focus yet fun to use. It has fairly soft focus and the ability to add a blurred effect by bending the lens.  The car show was a perfect place to fine tune my skills with it. In particular I like to photograph the hood ornaments, steering wheels, and dashboards.

In honor of Father’s Day

In honor of Father’s Day I took in the Burien Car Show. My dad would have enjoyed it. There were the usual suspects: Chevys, Fords, Studebakers, a beautiful Buick Roadmaster and something I had never really seen before – vintage tow trucks! There was entertainment all along the main drag and food, of course.

Sisson Building Dedication

I had no clue I’d be photographing a ‘local living legend’ last night but that’s exactly what happened as King County Executive, Dow Constantine dedicated the building located at the corner of California and Oregon in honor of Karen Sisson, retired Director of the Senior Center of West Seattle. Karen served as Director for the Center for 25 years. She was instrumental in starting a campaign to raise funds to purchase the property; the community supported her and her vision and in return has christened the property as “The Sisson Building”. You’ll find a handsome plaque at the front door and ‘Sisson Building’ emblazoned at the top of the building fronting California.

Community leaders and members of the Senior Center turned out to acknowledge her contributions and wish her well. There was wonderful food and music.  I wish her smooth sailing on her journey into retirement! (wink, wink)

Community Garden at Magnuson Park

It was pretty hot over the weekend so we ventured out to Magnuson Park. Couldn’t even get close to the water for all the people!  So, instead I had heard there was some sort of garden. I found it on the other side of the park and had the place all to myself. It’s really more of a community P-patch but all the same, it was fun to wander thru and enjoy a little sunshine and glorious color.

Anna’s Graduation Celebration

I guess it’s inevitable – when you’ve been in business all this time, I finally got to say “I knew her when….”! Anna’s mom has been one of my favorite clients. In fact, she was one of my first when I opened my studio in Fauntleroy. I’ve watch Anna grow up and blossom into a charming young woman. I wish her the best on her life journey. Congratulations! Anna.
