Oh baby, it’s chilly outside!

When it’s time to do a family photo it’s time, no matter what the weather! It was sunny, brite, and chilly but we got the shots! Toward the end the boys started doing their own thing. Of course, those are the best! I photographed mom and dad at one or two school auctions several years ago. I’m glad I finally got the chance to work with all of them!

Thru the raindrops

It’s that time of year for last minute senior yearbook photos. Yup, I can still make it happen for you. Neve came by this afternoon after shuffling her schedule and mine only to find the rains coming – what to do?! Quick, we can do it…and we did, right in my yard! It was the fastest session yet and yielded some great images perfect for the yearbook. We’ll get together again in April or May for more clothing changes and background options; hopefully with some better weather.

The celebration of Poland’s 97th Anniversary of Independence was held at the Polish Cultural Center in Seattle on Sunday, November 15, commemorating Poland’s return to the map after 123 years of foreign annexation. The anniversary program directed by Barbara Strutynski, included a medley of poems, music and spoken word presented by children and adults, with pianist Marzena Szlaga playing Chopin’s music and choir Vivat Musica singing traditional songs. Special guests included community leaders, veterans and former Solidarity activists as well as Polish scouting group.

At the event, one of the former Solidarity leaders, Jerzy Las was honored with the Cross of Freedom and Solidarity, a medal bestowed by the President of Poland, and presented to Mr. Las by Honorary Consul of Poland in Seattle. Congratulations!   To see more photos click here.

Coming Home to the Alki Homestead

0206-Homestead 0085-HomesteadMembers of the community were able to take home a slice of log from the historic 1904 Alki Homestead at this year’s auction benefit for the Southwest Seattle Historical Society. This year’s presentation was “Coming Home to the Homestead, Alki Homestead” held at Salty’s on Alki. Restoration has begun on the famous landmark that was destroyed by fire in 2009. Brother and sister, Catherine Gruye Alexamnder and Rob Gruye told stories of growing up in the Alki Homestead. We all look forward to the rebirth of this much loved Alki icon. Twins?

I met the twins via a referral from one of my favorite realtors, Ginny. Sean’s blueberry colored hair – very becoming; and handsomely recorded in the fall colors found at the Arboretum on campus. His brother Andrew has the most charming smile as I’m sure you’ll agree.
