Molly races to finish line

It was a great day for a benefit auction at Dirt Fish Rally School in honor of a young up and coming race car star by the name of Molly Helmuth. Her Fund A Dream campaign will pay for her racing education, her race car team and of course all those car parts. I’ve heard that she can run with the big boys without flinching. You Go Girl!  Take a peek at all the pics from her great auction by clicking here.

Auction raised money for Resident LIfe Care Fund

It was the 6th Annual Spring Champgne Brunch & Auction for The Kenney in West Seattle. Family, friends and supporters gathered to raise a glass and raise some money for The Resident Life Care Fund.  Keynote speaker was photographer Nick Del Calzo, who conceives and produces his own photographic projects that advance human values. Being a photographer myself I was in awe of his great talent. His black and white images truly capture the human spirit. Look for his book “Medal of Honor: Portraits of Valor Beyond the Call of Duty”.

In the meantime take a peek at the fun these folks had….

Everything’s coming up roses, I mean tulips!

I was almost too late! but I managed to find the time on Monday to toodle on up to the Tulip Festival.  Fields were pretty much plowed under already so nurseries could get their blooms to market. I still enjoyed the country side and made my first stop at RoozenGaarde. The displays were still lovely and there were a lot of people admiring the scene. Another favorite pit stop of mine is the Christianson’s Nursery.  Charming antique shop on the property and lots of plants. In the parking lot was a woman selling good ol’ fashioned philly sandwiches.  Had to stop and have a bite!

Enjoy the pics….

Wollensak means fine lenses

Every once in awhile I’ll buy a bunch of old National Geographic magazines and peruse the ads. I just love them.   Here is an ad for of all things Wollensak lenses! I guess those who read National Geographic are thought to have a big interest in photography.  I happen to have an old Century Master 8×10 camera sitting in my studio. Unfortunately for me I never got to shoot anything with it but it was definitely a fine instrument as it does have a Wollensak lens on it! The camera is for sale for $575 if you are interested.

Ballet Princess

I love it when clients are willing to “play” during their photo shoot no matter how old! Megan is a dancer with PNB so when mom called wanting her senior photos I couldn’t help but suggest she bring her favorite tutu and shoot in unusual places.  With grace and style we strolled along Lincoln Park with a string of little girls giggling behind us.   We all had fun. Here’s a peek at some of her images:

Carnival de FCC – Come Celebrate

Carnival de FCC – Come Celebrate

March 24th was the 25th Annual Auction and Dinner for the Fauntleroy Children’s Center that benefits the children, families and staff of FCC.  Many local celebrities were in attendance including Bob Watt, Auctioneer; King TV’s Jim Dever and former mayor Greg Nickels.

The “Carnival” theme was exciting with brightly colored banners and stilt walkers! But I think my favorite part is the Dessert Dash! Lots of money is raised as tables pool their monies to try and get their favorite desserts.  Early on you could find guests studying the table and eyeing their first choice. No one was disappointed.  I think this cake says it best:

2012-2013 Miss West Seattle Hi-Yu is Crowned

I was honored to be on hand for the official coronation of Miss West Seattle Hi Yu at the annaul Hi-Yu Tea and Auction this past weekend. I come from a pageant background having been involved with the Miss USA Pageant system but this one is very different. This particular organization is geared toward education and presents scholarship money to young women in our area.

At the event I was surrounded by young ladies in grade school who were polite, articulate and charming. No doubt their eyes are set on one day becoming Miss Seafair!

Kayli Schulz was officially crowned the 2012 Miss West Seattle Hi-Yu Queen at the annual Spring Tea and Auction held March 18th at the Hall at Fauntleroy. Over 150 guests were on hand to watch as Miss Seafair Veronica Quintero presented her with her tiara, sash and flowers. In addition, the fundraiser will help support the West Seattle community float and the scholarship program for young women.

Kayli Schulz will represent our community this spring and summer at events and parades around the Pacific NW.  She will also represent us at Seafair’s 2013 Scholarship for Women Program for the title of Miss Seafair.

In the photo Kayli is surrounded by the MC of the tea and auction – Seafair Pirate “The Marquis”, also known as Chuck Marcoullier, and her West Seattle Hi-Yu court – Junior Court Princess Elena Kline; Junior Court Queen Thea Pulido; Miss WS Hi-Yu Kayli; Miss Seafair, Veronica Quintero; and Junior Court Princess Amanda Elders.

What happens at Spa Day…

stays at Spa Day!

I think this image says it all. What better way to relax than reading a book on your iPhone, munching on a lovely snack and soaking those tired feet!

The West Side MOPS held their annual “Spa Day” for all those deserving moms of West Seattle.  Moms were able to chat among friends, paint their nails, enjoy a foot soak, and get some undivided attention from Dr. Chris Hill and Sherry Cejna, Olive Branch Body Care and Arbonne.  A lovely brunch was enjoyed by all. Cabi Fashions was on hand to inspire the fashion minded mom as well. UrbanSitter and Stroller Strides provided information on unique childcare services.  And I took them all the way to Vegas!
