I love to collect old postcards. I just found this lovely tinted card of Hotel Flamingo in Las Vegas. Now I got to Vegas often and I enjoy it. This postcard was dated 1949 and the message on back goes like this:
“This is where we didn’t stay last nite! Had a time finding a place to sleep. Did the strip after dinner – I was lucky but put it all back in. Everyone is crazy done here – such a waste of money. Love mom.”
My lips are sealed. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas 🙂
I got to photograph four week old Sophia in her mommy’s belly! Yes, a beautiful casting of mom’s belly done by BelliVita shortly before she was born makes for a comfy place to watch the world go by. At only four weeks old little Sophia gave us the most wonderful expressions. Can’t wait to see her at 4 months!
I just got an email from a fellow photographers daughter who is using one of my artsy fartsy images for a photography class assignment. How flattering! Her big question was “Can you define ‘shape’ for me?” Here’s my answer: To me ‘shape’ is a form that has boundaries or outlines. You might find geometric shapes like squares or circles; or you might find more organic shapes with less defined edges; or even silhouettes. Shape helps give an image depth.
Elijah and Jaiden are cousins who popped in to visit their grandma across the street and decided it was time to ‘capture the moment’ in a photo! Cute as can be it’s obvious that Elijah is the prankster in the family but Jaiden can certainly hold her own!

I knew I had him once he found the trike! He can back peddle better than anyone I know! Somewhat shy the trike seems to bring out the best in Rainier. Then we went for the family photo with mom and dad and the rest of the family….two dogs!
Jakub Michalski is surrounded by fans at the Seattle Polish Film Festival held at ten mercer. Jakub’s company, Old Garden produced the feature film “Snow Queen”. Also present at the reception were filmmaker and writer Antoni Krauze, producer Kazimierz Beer and actress Ewa Kasprzyk. The festival runs thru November 13. It looked like a trip through time as the Southwest Seattle Historical Society celebrated 160 years of history of the Duwamish Peninsula and Alki, the birthplace of Seattle during their annual fundraiser held at Salty’s on Alki.
Strolling through the festivities were a group from the sixties: Pete Covell, Carole & Andre Ferreer reflected on “Peace, man.”;
while 34th District Democrats Tamsen Spangler, Max Vekick and Marcee Stone reminded us of women’s suffrage.
