I’ve photographed Wyatt and his brother over the years and now it’s time for senior pics. How time flies! A handsome young man, we headed over to the park and did a walk from top to bottom. He’s into golf and tennis making the images more meaningful. Here’s a peek….
I had a few moments to spare before a meeting and pulled into Volunteer Park on Capitol Hill. Did you know the land was purchased in 1876 and first used as a cemetery!? and then later as this city park! The reservoir was built in 1901. The park was redesigned in1903 y the Olmsted Bros. and the water tower was built in 1907. Pretty cool to see what is have become…and nothing like enjoying what’s in your own backyard!
Took a little drive down thru Astoria, Cathlamet. Actually Mike drove and I shot thru the window! The Astoria Column and it’s sweeping views:

It was the Annual Benefit Luncheon for the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation Northwest Chapter held at the Hyatt at Olive 8 in Seattle. Master of Ceremonies, Chris Adams led the way with introductions of Jennifer O’Connor, Regional Director for CCF; Dr Tim Zisman, MD, MPH guest speaker; and of course Mike and Ashely McCready who awarded Tiffany Meckle the McCready Family Award for outstanding participation and service in our community. Not to mention the introduction of Rachel Preston, Patient Advocate and Camp Oasis Camper along with her father Cade Preston. (View all the images here)
One never knows when IBD will strike. My sister has battled with Crohn’s disease for some 30 years. Drugs, surgery, emergency surgery, ostomy, ostomy take-down; the saga continues. But living a healthy life is possible with the help and support found at the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation.
Did you know: Over 1.6 million children and adults in the US have IDB for which there is currently no cure.
Mayor Ed Murray joined local West Seattle residents at the Fauntleroy Community Association’s annual Fauntleroy Food Fest on Tuesday, March 21 at The Hall at Fauntleroy in the Fauntleroy Schoolhouse.
Returning to his stomping grounds he visited with local vendors and chatted with community members.
The annual event is an opportunity to mingle with neighbors, learn about organizations serving our neighborhood, and sample fine food provided by Fauntleroy-area restaurants and caterers.
The FCA was founded in 1980 and deals with concerns that impact the local community and it’s residents. Over the years they have worked on ferry and traffic issues, public safety, restored local salmon habitat, built parks and playgrounds and connected with the people of the community.

MOPS Spa Day was held at West Side Presbyterian Church. Moms were ‘spoiled and pampered’ by local vendors offering salon services, massages, skin care, health & fitness, and of course shopping for jewelry and clothing! I was there to capture the moment with a St. Paddy’s Day photo booth….to see all the images click MOPS Spa Day photos.
I spent Wednesday in Olympia with the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation as they met with legislatures throughout the day sharing their stories and issues that are important to families touched by IBD (including my own). Advocating for state-based legislation that ensures treatment decisions are kept between the patient and their medical professional not the insurance companies.
Next year the group hopes to present a bill addressing those concerns. With ACA possibly on it’s way out the state might well end up being the salvation for those suffering from Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis in our state.
It was interesting to note that more than half of the members we visited (or their liaisons) had an indirect connection to someone suffering from the disease.
There is no question that CCFA will be a force in Washington – stay tuned!

It’s not often you get to meet truly remarkable people who have lived through the most harrowing of times. Richard Parasol is such a person. During the exhibit opening, Richard Parasol shared his personal story of survival during the Holocaust. He was saved by a Polish family who took care of him as an orphan.
The exhibit at the University of Washington educates about righteous individuals who risked their lives to save Jews during the Holocaust in Poland during WWII. The stories of survivors and heroes are told through historical narratives and archival photos, in the context of the broader Polish-Jewish relations.
Lecture and exhibit featured opening remarks by Consul General of the Republic of Poland in LA Mariusz Brymora & Lila Cohen, Regional Director of the American Jewish Committee.
Event co-sponsored by UWPSEC, American Jewish Committee Seattle and Consulate of the Republic of Poland in LA.

You are never too old for Santa photos. Homestreet Bank offered complimentary Santa Photos for their patrons. We had tiny babies, grown-ups who still believe, dogs from the ‘hood, and the occasional screaming child. All in all it was a fun evening for the staff and friends of Homestreet Bank in West Seattle!
