Skittles goes for $1200 at Party of the Century!

And I don’t mean a bag of skittles! Skittles, a sweet 8 week old purebred Shih Tzu puppy  found a new loving home at the Holy Rosary School Heart Auction this past Saturday.  Among other items of great interest was the “Girls Night Out at Palisades,” and a signed Pearl Jam poster for $1800.  It was a great evening of fun and high bidding – totaling over $220,000! Congratulations.

Crohn’s & Colitis Benefit held November 9th

The dice were flying and the bidding was furious at the annual Casino Night & Auction benefiting the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation here in Seattle. Over $60,000 was raised with patrons walking away with VIP Pearl Jam concert tickets, Dinner with Nancy Leson, a Sayulita getaway just to mention a few.

Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis affect both children and adults. My sister was diagnosed over 30 years ago and today lives a very active life despite the occasional flareup and trip to the ER. Having a local chapter in our own backyard has been most helpful.

FCC Auction a wild success!

I personally don’t have children but I am more than honored to be part of the local auctions where kids are concerned. Parents and friends of the Fauntleory Children’s Center opened their hearts and their wallets at the 26th Annual FCC Auction this past weekend. Hosted by auctioneer Bob Watt and former mayor Greg Nickels, the two of them helped boost sales to well over $10,000! There were some great silent auction items including children’s skis, the wildly anticipated dessert dash, and some friendly bidding wars. You can view all the images from the evening festivities by clicking here!

Stand Tall for History

“Stand Tall for History” was the theme of this year’s Southwest Seattle Historical Society Gala. Held at Salty’s on Alki we ate a delicious lunch and listened to Paula Beck and Alan J. Stein, authors of “The Future Remembered: The 1962 Seattle World’s Fair and Its Legacy” as we gazed in wonder at the Space Needle which was bathed in red reminiscent of 1962!  It’s a tall order being the keeper of our local history and the historical Society and its Log House Museum should be commended for keeping our history alive. Molly races to finish line

It was a great day for a benefit auction at Dirt Fish Rally School in honor of a young up and coming race car star by the name of Molly Helmuth. Her Fund A Dream campaign will pay for her racing education, her race car team and of course all those car parts. I’ve heard that she can run with the big boys without flinching. You Go Girl!  Take a peek at all the pics from her great auction by clicking here.

Auction raised money for Resident LIfe Care Fund

It was the 6th Annual Spring Champgne Brunch & Auction for The Kenney in West Seattle. Family, friends and supporters gathered to raise a glass and raise some money for The Resident Life Care Fund.  Keynote speaker was photographer Nick Del Calzo, who conceives and produces his own photographic projects that advance human values. Being a photographer myself I was in awe of his great talent. His black and white images truly capture the human spirit. Look for his book “Medal of Honor: Portraits of Valor Beyond the Call of Duty”.

In the meantime take a peek at the fun these folks had….

Carnival de FCC – Come Celebrate

Carnival de FCC – Come Celebrate

March 24th was the 25th Annual Auction and Dinner for the Fauntleroy Children’s Center that benefits the children, families and staff of FCC.  Many local celebrities were in attendance including Bob Watt, Auctioneer; King TV’s Jim Dever and former mayor Greg Nickels.

The “Carnival” theme was exciting with brightly colored banners and stilt walkers! But I think my favorite part is the Dessert Dash! Lots of money is raised as tables pool their monies to try and get their favorite desserts.  Early on you could find guests studying the table and eyeing their first choice. No one was disappointed.  I think this cake says it best:
