Got a monkey on my back and I don’t care

0865-Hallo19

After all it is Halloween! I took a little drive to see what was happening in the West Seattle neighborhoods. Found lots of pets and kids (with parents) trick or treating up and down the street. The spooky decor was a little bit wicked. Ghosts hid in the shadows, spiders spun their webs, and skeletons celebrated the Halloween spirit!

Fauntleory Fall Festival 2019

I can’t believe I’ve been present at this event for the past 18 years! It is such an honor to be part of this community. And it was fun seeing how families have grown and seeing how diversified it’s become.  So…thank you for coming to this year’s event. Here’s a peek at some of our guests!

A Grand Affair

It was a night of fancy flappers and dapper men as the West Seattle Food Bank held it’s 4th annual Speakeasy at the Sanctuary; a fundraiser for the local food bank that serves over 11,000 people in our community. There was plenty of gambling, tasty hors d’oeuvres, themed cocktails and an auction of frenzied bidding! A wonderful evening for everyone…

Playing tourist

It was a beautiful day to play ‘tourist’ in my own backyard. I zipped on down to the Pike Street Market to join a few friends. We met by Rachel the pig and headed on down to the ‘gum wall‘; even though I have done many engagement portraits there as well as wedding photos it never seemed to be this crowded! As we walked down the steps there was a line of visitors from all over waiting to view this unique attraction. I got my turn, grabbed a few snaps and headed up to the market to find beautiful bouquets and lots of talented artisans… I’ll be back to shop for the holidays! Hope you enjoy my artistic interpretations….

Celebrating Earth Day

In honor of Earth Day we headed out to LaConner and the tulip fields. First stop was Snow Goose Produce for some refreshment and a look at their wonderful offerings including produce, fish, plants, TULIPS and wonderful ice cream! Next on the agenda was Christisnson’s Nursery, a delightful stop where we found “Art in the Schoolhouse” and ‘found art’ throughout the nursery and gift shop. The adventure would not be complete without a stop at Roozengaarde for a walk thru the tulip fields! We had  a little bit of sun, a little bit of rain, and a little bit of mud but it was well worth the trip. Not to mention the Kiwanis Salmon Bake. Yum!

Here’s some favorite pics…enjoy!

History is Happening Now!

That’s the theme for this year’s Champagne Gala Brunch at Salty’s on Alki benefitting the Southwest Seattle Historical Society. This important group promotes local heritage. What could be more important than saving the Old Homestead? Or the Admiral Theater? The Log House Museum is a West Seattle gem!

Great food and enchanting auction items where followed by Connie Thompson’s live interview with Paul Dorpat and Jean Sherrard authors of “Seattle Now & Then: The Historic Hundred”.

I am honored to capture this event year after year and look forward to the next!

Fall Festival is for family

Over 100 families stopped by to have their annual (or maybe first!) fall photo during the Fauntleroy Fall Festival.  We spent time debating how many years I’ve been doing this and figure it’s been at least 14 years! It’s been a pleasure watching our community grow. I met up with some of my high school seniors, bridal couples and of course so many young families. Here’s a sampling….

A Grand Affair

The West Seattle Food Bank held it’s annual “Grand Affair” Cocktail Benefit at the Sanctuary at Admiral.  Guests arrived in zoot suits and flapper outfits to the Roaring 20’s theme party where they could try their luck in the casino, partake of delicious appetizers, themed cocktails and of course bid on items in silent & live auctions.

Community friends were invited to celebrate the Food Bank’s astounding accomplishments in helping area families. Last year they distributed over 1.8 million pounds of food to local families and individuals.

Thank you, West Seattle Food Bank, for all you do!
