Goodguys Car Show

I love car shows and this was the granddaddy of them all – Goodguys 29th Pacific Northwest Nationals at Puyallup Fairgrounds. There were hundreds of cars! Throughout the day the vintage cars rolled down ‘main street’ so to speak as we wandered through the event.  This show I focused on color, line and shapes. But my favorite was the two guys admiring this old car:2432-Goodguys

Elvis ’68 Comeback Special

It was a fun evening at the Center when “Elvis” appeared live and onstage! Local talent, Bret Wiggins is a local and national favorite whose shows captivate all who attend. He graciously posed with guests and then sang some all time greats, some hidden treasures and Elvis’ favorite gospel songs. Ladies swooned as they received colorful scarves from the man himself. Dinner was Elvis’ favorite meatloaf, glazed sweet potatoes, collard greens and maple syrup cake with bacon! Delicious…you can view all the images from the evening by clicking here.

Lower Lewis River Falls

It was a pleasant day for a drive to Gifford Pinchot National Forest with Mike Penney and Ed Coumou. First stop was about 150 miles south at Cougar Bar & Grill. Nice homey atmosphere with a touch of woodsy outdoors. We traversed a couple of babbling brooks before reaching our final destination: Lower Lewis River Falls. The easy trail made the journey very pleasant. A delightful view of spectacular waterfalls surrounded by old-growth forest was the reward.  One could sit and listen to the falls all day long. Ahh….

But it was time to leave, but not before stopping in Woodland to view the Old Grist Mill and a silo.

2016 Annual CCFA Benefit Luncheon

“Providing Hope, Inspiring Action”…It was a day of giving for the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation Northwest Chapter as supporters gathered for the annual event that raises funds and awareness in support of research, patient progress and treatment progress for this most debilitating disease. Having a sister that suffers yet lives fully with the illness, it is always heart-wrenching  and heart-warming to hear stories of those who have conquered the disease in their own way. Erin Stedman shared her story which was totally different than that of her sister who also has the disease. Erin somehow managed her pain and suffering while planning a wedding and later having a baby. Surrounded by family and love definitely pulled her through. And then there was Trina who received the McCready Family Award whose story was just as inspiring.

“Joy is in the Journey”

“Joy is in the Journey” and it definitely showed as 150 people gathered to support the Senior Center of West Seattle at their annual spring fundraiser. Judging from the happy faces The Center is truly a place of joy, friendship and support for our community. The highlight of the breakfast was an introduction to Holly McNeill’s local outreach program. In 2015 over 4,000 seniors were served in one way or another; home visits, warm lunches, bingo, Rainbow Bingo, Trivia Night, Enhance Fitness classes, Dance Time, Meals on Wheels, and the Stop-n-Shop. You can still donate make a donation by calling 932-4044×4 or online at http://www.sc-ws.org; or join us at any of the community events.

First Spring Road Trip

With the lovely weather the last few days it was time for a road trip. I took my mom and sister on a short trip down Highway 167 toward Sumner where we stopped and shopped the cute antique stores. Next stop was the Mt. Rainier Winery which boasted lovely fruit wines and a fantastic view of the mountain! An hour and a half later we were off again – next stop Elbe for lunch. Final stop was the tulip farm in Mossyrock. A sweet little farm with a small field of tulips, sunny garden walk and gift shop.
