Judy was surrounded by 100 of her closest friends as she celebrated her 65th birthday at the opening of “Hair” at ArtsWest.  While celebrating she also raised money for the theater. Performers were thrilled with the full house and gave an outstanding performance. Judy was pulled to the stage for the closing number and the audience applauded and danced.  Happy Birthday, Judy. Skittles goes for $1200 at Party of the Century!

And I don’t mean a bag of skittles! Skittles, a sweet 8 week old purebred Shih Tzu puppy  found a new loving home at the Holy Rosary School Heart Auction this past Saturday.  Among other items of great interest was the “Girls Night Out at Palisades,” and a signed Pearl Jam poster for $1800.  It was a great evening of fun and high bidding – totaling over $220,000! Congratulations.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

I know the midwest and east coast are being pummeled with snow storms. Part of me wishes I was there and the other part is happy to be in Seattle with sunny skies. Being from Chicago I remember the cold Christmas Eve nights when dad would run down to the car, shovel off the snow and let it heat up for 15 minutes before we actually went to grandma’s house! Ahh, to be young again. And then the time that we lived in Boston and would leave work early because the snow was falling and accumulating.  Of course, we never missed a lot of work because they know how to salt and plow the roads; but there were some very frigid nights! And the time we couldn’t get back from Italy because a big snowstorm had hit the east coast and all air travel was suspended or re-routed – for that one we got a free night in a beautiful hotel and an extra couple days in Italy! Those were the days.

So, I went out and photographed a few iconic views on 45th Ave in Wallingford and on Thistle in West Seattle. I added a little snow of my own for a festive kind of Seattle snowfall! Enjoy!

Aloha Carol

It was a rip-roaring good time at the Senior Center of West Seattle as over 200 guests came to celebrate Carol’s 37 years of service to the Center. There was food, there was music, there was dancing, there was laughter all in honor of one very special lady, Carol Johnston, Program coordinator for SCWS. Carol will be transitioning into activities with family, friends, music events and new endeavors. As she puts it “Retirement is when one stops living at work and starts working at living.” You go girl! You can view all the images by clicking here.

’tis the season for family portraits

I’ve been photographing the Anawalt family for 6-7 years now. It always amazes me how fast the girls are growing up. Even though we’ve used their front and back yard many times for a backdrop I often find new corners of inspiration. The girls decided they wanted their picture taken on the trampoline. I think we got it! Here’s a little peak at the family pics.

Off to college so one last family photo

Lifechanging moments are usually a good time to catch up with family photos. Maddie is off to college in the next couple weeks son mom decided to gather everyone up. Their casual, relaxed style of living made for cool backdrops around the house. Even let the dog get up on the couch for once!  And I couldn’t resist an artsy fartsy shot of Maddie in grandma’s chair. Wonder which of the boys gets Maddie’s old room?

The Kenney Annual Picnic

It was an afternoon filled with great food and lots of love! The Kenney held it’s annual summer picnic this past week. The weather was perfect as were the lovely manicured grounds. Kids young and old enjoyed hot dogs and hamburgers, watermelon and cotton candy! All while being serenaded by the Duwamish Jazz Band. Guests can download their complimentary images by clicking here.

Kerns Family

I’m not sure which is more challenging: kids under two or kids over 20. Either way I certainly enjoy capturing the family dynamic no matter what the ages involved.  Jim and Maudie live in Port Townsend so naturally anything close to the water and ferry dock is a must. They were joined by their two grown children Kathy and Mike plus the better halves. Grandkids Matt and Natalie were home from college so we had the whole family.  We covered the park from bottom to top and I think we got just about every combination possible. I know they’ll enjoy these images for a long, long time.

Leah’s morning at Lowman Beach

I met Leah at Lowman Beach for our first session together. She certainly knew what she wanted to do most: Swing! So it took some effort to convince her the water and logs were a fun place to be. But mom persevered and we got some cute images of her in the reeds.
