Fall is Family Portrait time

Gretchen called and said it was not only time for her daughter’s senior photos but maybe time for a family photo as well. Again, we beat the storm and finished up our session at Lincoln Park shortly before the rains came. The light was perfect for our late afternoon session.

Bryce’s casual side

Bryce is the last of the Morgan boys to pass through the halls of West Seattle High.  Active in sports he plans to attend a community college and explore his options for the future.  If he’s anything like his brothers there will be an exciting future in store for him. I’m thrilled that I’ve been able to photograph all three boys and capture their family portraits over the years.

Last look at Alki

The Barnett family decided that since they were moving to Boston it was time to have that family photo taken on Alki. So, after packing all day long they headed to the shores of Alki for one last play date with the kids. I was happy to join them and must say we got some great images that will last a lifetime! We traversed the shoreline with the only mishap being, I got stung by a bee!

Carnival de FCC – Come Celebrate

Carnival de FCC – Come Celebrate

March 24th was the 25th Annual Auction and Dinner for the Fauntleroy Children’s Center that benefits the children, families and staff of FCC.  Many local celebrities were in attendance including Bob Watt, Auctioneer; King TV’s Jim Dever and former mayor Greg Nickels.

The “Carnival” theme was exciting with brightly colored banners and stilt walkers! But I think my favorite part is the Dessert Dash! Lots of money is raised as tables pool their monies to try and get their favorite desserts.  Early on you could find guests studying the table and eyeing their first choice. No one was disappointed.  I think this cake says it best:

2012-2013 Miss West Seattle Hi-Yu is Crowned

I was honored to be on hand for the official coronation of Miss West Seattle Hi Yu at the annaul Hi-Yu Tea and Auction this past weekend. I come from a pageant background having been involved with the Miss USA Pageant system but this one is very different. This particular organization is geared toward education and presents scholarship money to young women in our area.

At the event I was surrounded by young ladies in grade school who were polite, articulate and charming. No doubt their eyes are set on one day becoming Miss Seafair!

Kayli Schulz was officially crowned the 2012 Miss West Seattle Hi-Yu Queen at the annual Spring Tea and Auction held March 18th at the Hall at Fauntleroy. Over 150 guests were on hand to watch as Miss Seafair Veronica Quintero presented her with her tiara, sash and flowers. In addition, the fundraiser will help support the West Seattle community float and the scholarship program for young women.

Kayli Schulz will represent our community this spring and summer at events and parades around the Pacific NW.  She will also represent us at Seafair’s 2013 Scholarship for Women Program for the title of Miss Seafair.

In the photo Kayli is surrounded by the MC of the tea and auction – Seafair Pirate “The Marquis”, also known as Chuck Marcoullier, and her West Seattle Hi-Yu court – Junior Court Princess Elena Kline; Junior Court Queen Thea Pulido; Miss WS Hi-Yu Kayli; Miss Seafair, Veronica Quintero; and Junior Court Princess Amanda Elders.

Fall Festival Families

It was another successful Fauntleroy Fall Festival. Kids of all ages enjoyed face painting, pumkin decorating, pony rides and more! Kids and families had their annual photo taken on the bales of hay. This young man’s face says it all – what fun!  View all the family photos by clicking HERE.

Simon Says….

This is what happens when you ask 5 young cousins to pose for photos!  A simple game of Simon Says brought a little more order to the gathering but frankly, I LOVE the silly ones!

Kids gone wild

Once again, Ms. Stephanie asked me to photograph her preschool classes for posterity. This time I was gently bombarded by bean bags, chased the kids around the play yard with my camera and finally attempted to take the class photos. I think we did just fine; afterall, kids will be kids.

West Side Mops Spa Day a Success!

This was my first year participating in the West Side Mops annual Spa Day. The moms of West Seattle stopped by for 2 hours of pampering including hair, make up, massage, crafts, and wonderful mom portraits by “moi” gail ann!  We munched on bagels and cupcakes and enjoyed a chocolate fountain. Each  mom got a gift bag with goodies and many door prizes were given away.  I’m sure there was a lot of ‘action’ when the ladies got home to their husbands looking like dynamite!  Take a peek here at the day’s fun…Hope to see you all next year!
