It was another deserving ‘spa day’ for the moms of West Side MOPS. Local businesses provided mini make-overs, hair styling, skin care, and massages! Jewelry and fashion consultants were also on hand. There were plenty of door prizes and lots of yummy goodies from local vendors for the moms to enjoy. And through the magic of greenscreen technology Gail Ann transported them to lands far away! Gatewood Bids for Kids Auction
The Gatewood Bids for Kids Auction was held Friday evening, March 11th at the Hall at Fauntleroy. It was a superhero auction adventure where “Superheros” of all kinds showed up to bid on items to help raise money for the kids.

On hand were (right to left) Nicole “Gator Girl” Sipila, PTA Vice President, Rhonda Claytor, Principal and Mary Howland, PTA President.
Says Rhonda Claytor, “Our fundamental beliefs at Gatewood are that class size should be as small as possible, that children should have a variety of learning experience…this event is a crucial part of providing the funding to make these ideas continue to be an effective learning tool and a reality at Gatewood.”
I was on hand to capture some of the Superheros in action. You can view these images at: http://www.gailannphotography.com/GatewoodSuperheros11/
If you would like a complimentary image from the event just let me know!
Snazzy lady makes for jazzy realtor
I love the creativity that sizzles when creativity calls! Yasmin called at 3pm; we shot at 4pm; between the rain drops even! And came up with some great shots for her promo materials. Please visit Jazz This House when you are ready to buy real estate and see if you’re a match!
Fun at CCFA Camp Oasis
My sister has Crohn’s disease. We are active in the local chapters and always willing to help out especially if it involves kids and photography! I took my buddy Mike with me and we spent the day with these remarkable kids at Camp Oasis; commonly known as Camp Colman. Activities included archery, art’s & crafts, swimming & boating, and the sport of ‘gaga’! You would not think that these kids have issues due to UC and Crohn’s; their energy levels are so high! I have published a ‘magazine’ that can be purchased online with all proceeds going to the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation here in Seattle.
Purchase your magazine here: http://www.magcloud.com/browse/Issue/123270
Halloween in the Junction
The Senior Center of West Seattle asked if I would take photos of the trick or treaters during the Junction’s Halloween celebration. How could I refuse! There were lots of witches, lots of puppies, and lots of monkeyss! The most unusual included a robot, a cupcake and a blue angel…all of which won prizes for best costumes. Congratulations! If you haven’t received your photo yet be sure and email me so I can get it to you! gail@gailannphotography.com
West Seattle’s friendly ghosts
The Log House Museum held it’s annual fundraiser at Salty’s on Alki this past weekend. Guests came in costume to partake of a scrumptious brunch and meet several ‘ghosts’ from West Seattle’s past. Do you know who they are?
Left to Right:
O.T. Frasch, famous photographer who took many well-known photographs of West Seattle. He was portrayed
by Alan Peterson, a member of the Southwest Seattle Historical Society Executive Board.
Frederick Schmitz, an immigrant from Germany with his wife Emma, a banker, restaurant owner who donated
the land which is now Schmitz Park to the city. He was portrayed by Peder Nelson, a student in the
museum studies program at the University of Washington.
Helen Madison, Olympic medalist swimmer who gave swimming lessons at the Natatorium. She was portrayed
by Brandi Carlson, a volunteer at the Log House Museum.
William Latimer, a mystery pioneer. Latimer was a relative of the Seattle Dennys who scouted the
Duwamish Peninsula in 1852, a year before the Alki landing party arrived. Latimer was portrayed by
Andrew Harris, great-grandson of David and Louisa Denny.

Evil Dead
Evil Dead – the Musical
Theater guests enjoyed tuna fingers, pizza, and vampire bites before getting splattered with blood at this ArtsWest patron dinner. Guests were photographed and placed in their own poster art as a souvenier! See all photos here
The cult classic horror films Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2, and Army of Darkness were brought to life before our very eyes in this crazy musical. Five college students go to an abandoned cabin in the woods, and accidentally unleash an evil force that turns them all into demons. It’s all up to Ash (a housewares employee, turned demon killing hero), and his trusty chainsaw to save the day. Blood flies. Limbs are dismembered. Demons tell jokes… and all is set to music. Halloween Traditions at Alki Elementary
There’s nothing like creating your own holiday traditions…even for Halloween! I met Cassie and her mom several years ago and have had the privilege of photographing her in her Halloween costume as well as creating her annual Christmas photo!

Alex takes time for his senior pics
Alex was a natural in front of the camera. With a nice easy smile we worked the alleyway and did some nice studio headshots.
Remember, it’s never too early or too late for senior pics.
