I was wandering around Seattle Center leading a Smug Mug group and teaching them how to use the “Lensbaby” when my little friend yelled out to me “Hey Gail Ann, can you take my picture!” How could I say no? Henry and his brother and his cousin had just gotten off the duck ride, eaten dinner and were on their way to watch the fountain so I grabbed just a few quick shots and Henry was tickled to death. He may have embarrassed mom and grandma but it was worth it! All ya gotta do is ask! Cute eh?

MenVision
Lesley recently finished leading a small group of women in a workshop designed to help us clear our minds and move forward. (See images here) And now she will be conducting a workshop based on the results of over 100 interviews with men who shared insights into the male psyche with her. “MenVision” will take place on Solar Eclipse Sunday, July 11, 2010 at Volunteer Park Art Circle across from the museum starting at 7:30pm. Suggested donation of $10-$100. Find out more at menvisionseattle.blogspot.com
Fauntleroy Schoolhouse Celebration
Fauntleroy Schoolhouse Celebration
Members of the community (young and old) applauded as Dr. Pierce cut the ribbon at the main entrance to the schoolhouse making the acquisition of the building into the hands of the local community official.

Addie expressed her joy below the awesome banner her mom made in honor of the occasion.

Claudine couldn’t stay away. She attended kindergarten at the Fauntleroy School and took some time to wander the halls and reminisce – happy knowing that the school will remain an active hub in her neighborhood.

Kids gone wild
Once again, Ms. Stephanie asked me to photograph her preschool classes for posterity. This time I was gently bombarded by bean bags, chased the kids around the play yard with my camera and finally attempted to take the class photos. I think we did just fine; afterall, kids will be kids.
Meet Sabine!
First comes loves, then comes marriage, then comes Sabine in a baby carriage! I photographed Kate & Amit’s wedding a couple of years ago. I was so happy when they called to say they had a new member of the family….little Sabine. What a beautiful name…for a beautiful baby. Here’s our first session together. We’ve already got the next one planned with her and Joey – the family dog! Can’t wait.
West Side Women’s Spring Tea
Remember the days…when little girls couldn’t wait to get into grandma’s closet and try on all those jewels and hats? Well, girls of every age got to do that at the West Side Women’s Spring Tea! Table were decorated with antique and modern day teapots. Cranberry scones, cucumber-mint tea sandwiches, orange-cardamom cupcakes were served up with finesse – YUM! And I donated my time and proceeds to West Side MOPS for the fun photo opportunity. You can view all the images by clicking here: http://www.gailannphotography.com/WSeaTea2010/
Look at these great magazine covers:
Anthony’s senior pics
You never know how a senior guy is gonna react to the camera. Anthony was great. His mom is a makeup artist so he had to sit through a little makeover but not so much as to make him look like he’d had a makeover! He gave me plenty of attitude that came across very “James Dean-like” on camera. What ya think?!
Jesse & Lucy giggle away
This was the first time mom had taken the kids for ‘professional’ photos; she was pleasantly surprised at how well the kids took to the situation. We placed them in the big orange chair and let them just have fun. There were giggles and grins and mile wide! But my favorite part was when mom was getting Lucy into her car seat and Jesse sat down to have a little snack….”Want some?”
Crohn’s & Colitis Benefit Luncheon
My sister has Crohn’s disease so I feel like I share it with her. It is my privilege to once again be on hand to photograph the annual benefit luncheon. Our good friend Lois Fink along with state representative Marko Liias helped pass a bill which would give individuals with certain medical condiditons the right to use employee only restrooms if necessitated by their disease. On May 11, 2009 ESHB 1138 was signed into law. Lois received the 2010 Mike McCready & Ashley O’Connor Award.
Mike McCready of Pearl Jam took a moment to pose with Elizabeth Smith (featured speaker) and her family. Elizabeth, 11 years old, has endured Crohn’s for most of her young life yet lives a normal kids life. She plays football, soccer, swims and loves to act!
Last up was Susan Ershler who along with her husband Phil were the first couple in history to climb the fabled Seven Summits including Mt. Everest. Most remarkable is the fact the Susan had never hiked or climbed until she met Phil at age 35. And Phil, battled Crohn’s all through his life as a professional mountain guide. We thank Susan for sharing her inspirational story. Look for their book “Together on top of the World.”
